I love receiving feedback from educators about their imaginative ecological teaching practices! Recently I heard about one teacher’s success using the Walking Curriculum.
Carrie Lundy teaches a multi-age Grade 3/4 class at Governor Semple school in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She recently took her students to Assiniboine Park on a field trip for a program called A River Runs Through It. The class received individual cameras and actually had birds landing in their hands to feed at one point. Carrie says it was the most magical experience in her teaching career and that the field trip combined with her work with the Walking Curriculum is proving to be very valuable.
This sounds amazing! We don’t get outside enough – so any chance to do that is a win in my book!
